Snaplace does not collect, transmit, or share anything. It contains no networking code at all, so there is no server for your screenshots to reach. That is a property of the program, not a promise about how it is operated.
There is no account and no sign-in.
There is no analytics, telemetry, crash reporting, or advertising.
There are no third-party SDKs. Snaplace links only Apple's own frameworks.
Snaplace makes no network connections of any kind.
Capture history. Every screenshot is written into Snaplace's own sandbox container so you can find it again, including ones you only copied to the clipboard. This is a working cache, not an archive: by default Snaplace deletes captures older than 30 days and keeps at most 500, whichever comes first. Both limits can be changed in Settings → History, and either can be switched off. The folder is always kept out of Time Machine, so old screenshots do not linger on a backup drive after you have cleared them.
Screenshots you save. These go to the folder you chose — ~/Pictures/Snaplace unless you changed it. Snaplace never deletes them, and never excludes them from your backups.
Settings. Your preferences, keyboard shortcuts, and a bookmark for the save folder you picked, held in macOS user defaults inside Snaplace's container.
Nothing in this list leaves your Mac.
Reading text, QR codes and barcodes out of a capture runs entirely on this Mac, through Apple's Vision framework. The image is not uploaded anywhere. What is recognised goes to your clipboard and nowhere else.
Screen Recording. macOS requires this of any app that captures the screen. You grant it in System Settings → Privacy & Security → Screen Recording, and macOS requires Snaplace to be quit and reopened before it takes effect. Without it Snaplace cannot take a screenshot at all.
A save folder, only if you pick one other than the default. macOS grants Snaplace access to that one folder and nothing else.
Snaplace does not ask for the camera, the microphone, contacts, location, or Full Disk Access.
Individual captures: open Capture History, select them, and press Delete. They go to the Trash.
Everything Snaplace holds: quit Snaplace and move it to the Trash. Then, in Finder, choose Go → Go to Folder, enter ~/Library/Containers, and move the folder named Snaplace to the Trash.
Screenshots you saved yourself are in your own folder and are yours. Removing Snaplace does not touch them.
Snaplace is not directed at children, and collects no data from anyone of any age.
Snaplace is a one-time purchase through the Mac App Store. Apple handles the transaction. Snaplace contains no payment or purchase code, never sees your payment details, and receives no personal information from Apple.
Any change is published on the Snaplace website and shipped inside the app itself, so the copy you are reading always matches the version you are running.
